Who is a candidate for the SmartLipo™ Laser liposuction procedure?
If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you’re a candidate for laser assisted lipolysis. Ideal candidates are in good health, and have realistic expectations for the results.

What areas can be treated with SmartLipo™
It is ideal for treating the unwanted fat of the abdomen, flanks/ love handles, chin and neck, upper arms, thighs and knees. The benefits of skin tightening are particularly noticeable for the neck area.

How many treatments will I need?
For most patients, only one session of treatment is required. The session may last from 60 to 90 minutes for each area treated.

Do I have to do anything after the treatment?
After the treatment you will need to wear a compression garment for several days to several weeks, depending on the body area being treated. Rest is recommended after the procedure and activity may be resumed gradually. Avoid hot tubs or strenuous exercise for 2 weeks.

Does SmartLipo™ also help cellulite?
The procedure should improve the body’s shape but the appearance of cellulite may not be altered. However ongoing studies suggest that certain applications of SmartLipo™ may lead to a significant improvement of cellulite.

When can I expect to see results?
Depending on the area treated, results can be seen as soon as a few days after the procedure, with continued improvement over several months.

How long do the SmartLipo™ results last?
The SmartLipo™ procedure permanently removes the fat cells in the treated areas. It is well known that adults do not increase the number of their fat cells, and that when they gain weight, only the existing or remaining fat cells expand. Consequently, should you gain weight, most fat will be deposited in areas where the procedure was not performed.

Is there any possibility of serious complication?
Any laser application raises the possibility of skin burn. However to maximize safety, the manufacturer Cynosure has added 2 safety features that help prevent this complication and are unique to the SmartLipo™ system. The first one is the SmartSense which controls the emission of laser energy, based on the movement of the laser fiber.  The second feature, the ThermaGuide, allows us to control the maximum temperature reached at the skin level. The ThermaGuide, state-of-the-art technology, is available only on the SmartLipo™ MPX platform, recently acquired by Dr Miller.
